Unveiling the Hidden Layers of Fashion
For more than 72 hours before its Fall-Winter 24 show in Milan, Diesel gave open access to behind-the-scenes areas usually hidden from view. Streaming from five different fixed cameras, anyone with internet access could watch Diesel creative director Glenn Martens and his team prepare for the show – in the atelier finalizing the collection; with Martens as he fits the models; the casting; in the show space as the runway set is being constructed. For the show itself, the set is a live video call with 1000 members of the public around the world, who would never usually get front row access.
Autumn/Winter Collection Revealed
The collection’s standout pieces included edgy tank tops paired with chunky faux fur jackets, as well as dresses printed with Zoom-call graphics—a playful nod to the digital age. With oversized sweatshirts, mesh overlays, and deconstructed knits, Martens blurred the lines between casual wear and runway chic, ensuring every piece makes a statement.
Chaos Meets Couture
Martens also maintained a sense of irreverence and playfulness, with references to Y2K styles, yet the execution felt fresh and avant-garde, drawing from a variety of influences that together conveyed a chaotic yet cohesive look.
You can show selected pieces for women from the DIESEL AW24 RUNWAY SHOW in Emporium, Galerija Emporium and on Emporium.si.
